It Takes a Village (and a Stopwatch!)
Why Volunteering Matters at Curtis Park
Swimming isn’t a drop-off-and-cheer kind of sport, it’s a team effort, and that includes our amazing parents! To keep meets running smoothly (and on time!), we need parents to jump in and help.

What’s Expected
Each family is asked to have at least one parent volunteer for:
-
4 meets in untrained positions OR
-
3 meets in a trained position
-
If you are registered for finals you are expected to volunteer for one session at finals.
-
Each family must get one member trained in at least one position for each season and submit proof of training to the RSL.

Why We Need You
-
A Home Meet takes about 60 parent volunteers
-
An Away Meet still needs around 40 volunteers
That’s a lot of teamwork—and every role matters.

No Experience? No Problem!
Many volunteer jobs can be learned on the spot, and our Mock Meet is the perfect chance to try things out and get comfortable.
Some positions do require short, formal training through the RSL. We’ll share all dates and locations via email as well as update the site when we have them.

How Volunteering Works
Each meet has two volunteer sessions:
-
Session 1: Start of the meet → end of Butterfly 🦋
-
Session 2: After Butterfly → end of the meet
👉 One session = one volunteer credit
👉 Work both sessions in one meet? You earn two credits, nice!
👉 Some roles require slightly different sessions. For example, meet set up requires arriving early, and meet take down requires staying late. You cannot work overlapping positions unless you have two different people in those roles. Please contact the volunteer coordinator at volunteer@curtisparkswim.org to let them know if you plan to do this so you're not automatically removed from conflicting roles!

📣 Game Day Tips
-
Check in with the Volunteer Coordinator ASAP when you arrive. If you do not check in prior to the start of the meet or contact the volunteer coordinator to let them know you are running late, your position may be filled.
-
Timing and sometimes Clerk of Course have a pre-meeting prior to the start of the meet.
-
Please listen for announcements so you don’t miss the pre-meeting.
Bottom line: Volunteering keeps our meets running, supports our swimmers, and makes Curtis Park the awesome community it is. Thank you for being part of the action, we couldn’t do it without you!
