To join the Curtis Park Swim Team, new swimmers must successfully complete a tryout. The primary requirement is to demonstrate the ability to swim one 25-meter length of the pool unassisted. This means that the swimmer must be able to cover the entire distance without holding onto the lane lines or relying on the coach for support. They can use any swimming style, even a dog paddle, as long as they can complete the length of the pool independently. This requirement ensures that all team members have a basic level of swimming proficiency for safety and training purposes.

All new swimmers have to tryout before they are officially on the team.

Yes, we do allow parents to remain on the pool deck in order to watch their child tryout for the team!

At Curtis Park Swim Team, we understand that trying out can be a nerve-wracking experience for children, and we strive to support every swimmer who wants to make the team. During the first week of practice, each swimmer is given two chances per day to tryout. This allows them multiple opportunities to showcase their skills without the pressure of a one-time performance.

We do allow for one make-up day on Monday of the second week of practice in the event that a swimmer is unable to make the first week of practice.

After your swimmer passes their tryout they may immediately join their age group for that day's practice!

If your swimmer is unable to pass their tryout, please notify the board at secretary@curtisparkswim.org in order for us to begin processing a full refund less the non-refundable RSL fee.
